MOT & servicing in the UK
145 mot & servicing across 30+ towns, independents first. Last checked 21 August 2026.
Independent motorbike garages carry out the servicing, repairs and MOT tests that keep a bike roadworthy through the year. Unlike a main dealer service department, an independent is not restricted to one brand and can often offer shorter waiting times and more flexible pricing. Any garage on this list that holds DVSA authorisation can carry out your annual Class 1 or Class 2 motorcycle MOT.

How many mot & servicing are listed?
Everything Motorbike lists 145 mot & servicing across the UK, independents first, last checked 21 August 2026.
Are these mot & servicing independent?
We list independent and owner-run businesses first. Where a listing belongs to a larger group, it is shown as such.
How often should a motorbike be serviced?
Most manufacturers recommend a service every 6,000 to 12,000 miles, or once a year, whichever comes first. Some modern bikes with longer oil-change intervals stretch to 16,000 miles between services. Check your owner's manual for the exact schedule for your model.
Does a motorbike need an MOT?
Yes. Any motorcycle or moped that is more than three years old needs an annual MOT. You can book at any DVSA-authorised test centre, including the independent garages listed here. New bikes are exempt for the first three years.
What does a motorbike service typically include?
A standard service usually covers an engine oil and filter change, air filter check, spark plug inspection or replacement, chain and sprocket check, brake pad and fluid check, tyre pressure and condition, and a general safety inspection. A major service also includes valve clearances on some engines, coolant change and brake fluid replacement.
How much does a motorcycle MOT cost?
The DVSA sets a maximum fee for a motorcycle MOT of £29.65 for Class 1 (mopeds and motorcycles up to 200cc) and for Class 2 (motorcycles over 200cc). Most garages charge at or close to this cap. A retest at the same station within 10 working days on the items that failed is usually free or at a reduced charge.
